There is a path back to Living and loving your life after loss or other life events that have left you feeling stuck.
So, something, some event, has you feeling lost or stuck in a life you don’t love. You've thought about what it would be like to get back to the life you had before the event or maybe you want even more.
Congratulations, you've taken a step by searching for answers.
The journey to the life you deserve can be like like climbing a mountain. If you were to climb mount Everest, you would, as do the most skilled climbers, hire a Sherpa (guide). Even though your climb will be your own, it can help to have some guidance from someone who has done it before. Having navigated through the loss of my son, you could say that I am someone who has climbed a difficult mountain. I would love nothing more than to be a guide as you make your ascent.
Upon receiving the news that my son had passed, even in the midst of emotions I knew I would have to find a way forward. I knew my son would not want me, and it would serve no purpose for me, to be stuck in my grief. I knew I had quite a climb ahead.
Just a few days after my son's memorial service, I made the choice to go back to work. I wanted to take that step towards living my life. On that day, a coworker would share with me that her son was missing and with him suffering from addiction, she feared the worst. I could see how fearful she was and I understood the possibility that she may end up having to navigate through loss. I knew then and there that as I made my climb, I needed to be mindful and take note of the steps I would take so that I could help others.
I have found that the one thing better than accomplishing anything is extending a hand to help someone else. If you are ready to make the climb and just need a little help or inspiration, please read my blogs or even reach out to me through this website.
You can make the climb!
Our society can be so focused on finish lines that we fail to recognize the effort it can take, and the sense of accomplishment felt, just to step across the starting line. As Don Shula said, “The start is what stops most people.” He’s right. If so many people are stopped at the start, shouldn’t you give yourself credit for at least taking that first step?
Sure, the goal can be great but each step of the journey to get there can be fulfilling.
If you are navigating through a difficult life event, such as the loss of a loved one, any step that you take, to get back to living a fulfilled life, is an accomplishment. If your particular life event has you feeling depleted or tired, its okay to stay put for a while and catch your breath, but if you're reading this, it means you're at least thinking about moving forward. You need now only to focus on stepping across the starting line. Take just one step, just one move back towards the life that you love. Once you’ve done that, then take the next step and then the next…
If you've gotten as far as starting, I applaud you!
I am blessed to share this journey with my best friend and soulmate! My wife doesn't always join me on my adventures but she always supports me! Part of being fulfilled in life is supporting others as they seek their own fulfillment.
